I remember two great stories of many from Coach Beier. The first one is he would tell us to remember the spelling of his name was Beer with an I in the middle if we ever couldn't remember. Secondly he used to take kids fishing when he taught them driving school. One of those trips he caught a lot of fish and needed a place to store them. I was the young rookie on a varsity team forced to go scoop the ice for the water jugs for practice and when I opened the ice machine I saw 10 fish on ice. Trying to find out where they came from it was from Coach Beier fishing the day before. The ice was not usable but the fish stayed cold!
