The Fred Beier Field Dedication
For more than thirty-five years, Fred Beier was much more than a coach to students at St. John’s Jesuit. He was a teacher, a mentor, a role model, a champion for boys who flew under the radar. We look forward to celebrating a true Titan legend and Man for Others, and hope you can join us on August 30th.

Michael played for his Uncle Fred. We have great family memories of those years and "True Story" moments.

In honor of Fred Beier
Mr./Coach Beier influenced and motivated me and essentially all of my '73 classmates to always strive to do our best in sports, academics and life in general. He may have seemed intimidating to many of us, but he had a heart of gold and an undying, unsurpassed dedication to SJJ and its students. He will always remain one of the greatest role models in my life and a true "Man for Others."

As a 1971 grad and as a fellow faculty member for 15 years, I had the honor of working with and along side Fred Beier. He truly had a gift and I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to observe and share in so many fantastic memories involving him.

In honor of Coach Fred Beier
Coach Beier was truly the definition of a "Man for Others". He dedicated himself to SJJ, the students, and to the athletic program. He put the students first. Shared great stories and taught great values!
Playing 4 years of football for SJJ and Coach Beier are memories that I will never forget!
This field is dedicated to you Coach!

Coach was my homeroom teacher my freshman year. He always asked me about varsity tennis and was interested in my progress. And he was my driving instructor. During this he would ask, "where are the parties this weekend".

Fred was an educator in every area where he had contact with students. He even made the boys in his study hall, stand in front of the class and give a talk. He never missed an opportunity to help his students grow. He cared about their academics, their athletics and their personal lives.

In honor of Fred Beier
It bring me great joy and happiness to finally see Fred being forever honored by the naming of the field we all shared some many times together under the leadership and mentorship of Fred and so many of the coaches he surrounded himself with. It’ll be great to see so many former teammates, friends and coaches as we come together to celebrate the Man For Others that’s Fred was and the legacy he has left behind for us to live up to!

As a colleague I watched Fred look for new freshmen sitting alone at lunch and then match them up with a table of guys to make some connections. He paid attention to all sorts of young men, helping them find a place in the school -- pointing them to activities, sports, whatever he thought might work for that student. He was gifted in being able to connect with all sorts fo young men.

I was taking drivers ed and it was time to drive with Fred.
He threw me the keys---I had never driven before. To make matters worse I was unable to see above the dashboard. I had to sit on 4 books.

Shari & I met Fred & Sharon out in Las Vegas and Fred taught me some good strategies about playing black jack. We got on a hot streak and the winnings were piling up. However, our wives appeared about every 1/2 hour to grab our booty & Fred simply shrugged his shoulders and smiled. He taught me to do the same.

Going to Appalachia with Mr. Beier was a once in a lifetime experience. I also enjoyed working for his football teams when I was in junior high, but the best was all the stories he would tell when driving us to work at Ohlman's Greenhouse after school.

Fred always had a droll sense of humor. He had an amazing ability to see things on the practice field and during a game that he used to get a laugh out of his players.

I have been friends and neighbor of the Beier’s since I was 5 years old. Tony and I went to grade school and high school together. The Beier’s always opened their house to me. Mr Beier always had something clever to say. He was my high school freshman wrestling coach. This honor is long overdue and only wished Fred was with us to share the moment.
