In honor of Fred Beier
Mr./Coach Beier influenced and motivated me and essentially all of my '73 classmates to always strive to do our best in sports, academics and life in general. He may have seemed intimidating to many of us, but he had a heart of gold and an undying, unsurpassed dedication to SJJ and its students. He will always remain one of the greatest role models in my life and a true "Man for Others."

Shari & I met Fred & Sharon out in Las Vegas and Fred taught me some good strategies about playing black jack. We got on a hot streak and the winnings were piling up. However, our wives appeared about every 1/2 hour to grab our booty & Fred simply shrugged his shoulders and smiled. He taught me to do the same.

Never lost a wrestling match my senior year when Coach Beier was sitting in my corner--and inspiring coach and teacher who was an even better man for others!

I have been friends and neighbor of the Beier’s since I was 5 years old. Tony and I went to grade school and high school together. The Beier’s always opened their house to me. Mr Beier always had something clever to say. He was my high school freshman wrestling coach. This honor is long overdue and only wished Fred was with us to share the moment.

I was taking drivers ed and it was time to drive with Fred.
He threw me the keys---I had never driven before. To make matters worse I was unable to see above the dashboard. I had to sit on 4 books.

Coach Beier was truly the definition of a "Man for Others". He dedicated himself to SJJ, the students, and to the athletic program. He put the students first. Shared great stories and taught great values!
Playing 4 years of football for SJJ and Coach Beier are memories that I will never forget!

Going to Appalachia with Mr. Beier was a once in a lifetime experience. I also enjoyed working for his football teams when I was in junior high, but the best was all the stories he would tell when driving us to work at Ohlman's Greenhouse after school.

Fred was an educator in every area where he had contact with students. He even made the boys in his study hall, stand in front of the class and give a talk. He never missed an opportunity to help his students grow. He cared about their academics, their athletics and their personal lives.
