Butch Welling "Be Good to Each Other" Scholarship Fund

For 40 years Mr. Butch Welling taught Freshman Theology at SJJ. In fact, generations of Titans know his hallmark motto, “Be Good To Each Other.” In 2017, Mr. Welling was inducted into the SJJ Hall of Fame, and he was a Toledo Diocese Golden Apple Award recipient in 2012. Mr. Welling spent 21 years in religious life, 19 of those as a Jesuit Brother. He was the first Jesuit Brother to teach at SJJ, and his love of the Jesuits and their histories goes far beyond a personal hobby. He has a passion for the SJJ retreat program, always as an adult leader at Freshman, Sophomore, and Football retreats. Mr. Welling has been a cornerstone of the Titan football program, on the coaching staff and most recently as the equipment manager.

Mr. Welling is legendary to the SJJ community. We are proud to honor him with this fund upon his retirement.
